Bob
Almost all the hire cars over here are automatics. My first hire car was a 1.6 Nissan Tiida automatic, and the current car is a Nissan Altima 2.5S automatic [presumably the "S" stands for "shite"]. Including the various 4x4 site vehicles (again, all automatic ), I've found them all to be horrible driving - gear changes take several seconds, kickdown is jerky yet devoid of torque, changes are at the wrong times in the wrong places, and the brakes end up fighting against the gear box unless you change down manually. It really made me realise how different the Supra autobox is, and why people who haven't driven them might stay away from them. I loved the Supra box. I want another one
Sheefa
Tell me about it Bob. I've had a fair few hire cars for work recently (normally always go for manuals now) and experienced the delights of the new Automatic Micra. Jesus Christ I wanted to drive into a brick wall and end the pain. I miss my car like mad. My plan is to get back into ownership in Q1 me thinks, depending on my financial sit. All well with you pal? Greg Yeah, all good here buddy I'd like something with a v8 next, but not one of the many barge-like yank-tanks they have over here. I want a Z06, but if I go into debt for a car again, the missus will de-bag me!

Sheefa
No Gaz, it was dreadful mate, I dare you to drive one! Good work Bob. Know what you mean about the financial situation and bloody expensive cars. Em wouldn't be happy with me either, but that's not her decision When you next back in the UK then? No idea mate, over here on a permanent basis now. Might be back for xmas but I doubt it - if we want a white xmas we'll pop over to the ski-slope in Dubai Seeing the women skiing in their thermal burkhas can be highly amusing

RedM
I'll tell you one autobox that I've enjoyed outside of a Supra. The one on the Corsa 1.4 that we hired last year. It was like being in a dodgem car, piss easy to drive and, in *cough* 'sport' mode, we even pushed much bigger cars along the M-way.
