RobSheffield Posted September 19, 2007 Share Posted September 19, 2007 Just noticed my Optima battery wont take or hold a charge, its been dry stored in a carpeted garage while doing work on my car. Wondered if the charger was duff so connected a 12v bulb and nothing What sort of warranty is normally offered from Optima dealers? (Dealer wasnt anyone on here by the way!) tooquicktostop Posted September 19, 2007 Share Posted September 19, 2007 I was told by an in car audio shop that they have a bad rep for not recharging fully once they have drained, this has put me off buying one for the boot relocation, maybe someone who owns one can confirm ? Put it on a trickle charge every few weeks or so, it even had its own dedicated charger! Most small children werent as well looked after as that bloody battery! I was right at the point of buying one of these when the owner of the local audio shop told me they are great batteries until they loose some or all of the charge then they never recover to full charge again, I have no personnel experience so was interested if any owner on here has something more useful than me to add Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bob Posted September 19, 2007 Share Posted September 19, 2007 If it's any concillation, I had an Exide Maxxima battery that lasted 4 months before one of the cells died - meaning it wouldn't hold any charge at all. RobSheffield Posted October 25, 2007 Author Share Posted October 25, 2007 Well, i took it to the Optima dealers i bought it from and they checked it to find that in fact it was dead, they have had it 2 weeks, and charged it up, tested it to show 103% of recommended power in it, then forgot to call me:rolleyes: Just had a call tonight to say it is ready for collection but since it hasnt been collected its dropped to only 90% Should it drop off 10% of its power in only approx 2.5-3 weeks? Is that within normal limits etc?
