carl0s
Since having my new tires fitted, I've noticed on a few occasions now that when setting off from traffic lights, under VERY gentle acceleration, the TRC light on the rev counter flashes on for about two seconds. It's only happened about three times in all since the last 10 days. I had another tire put on the front today after it appears someone cut a gash into one a week after having them fitted, and I noticed it happen again on the way home. Is the car trying to tell me something? Could the ABS sensors have been umm touched in the process of removing the rims? I've searched and a few people have had similar things, but nothing was concluded. thx, Carl
carl0s
No O/D or other lights flashing btw. It was wet outside but I am certain there wan't enough power to spin the wheels. I'm wondering if it's possible for a rim to turn inside a tire, since the new tires are put on with a kind of grease. Sounds unlikely, but it would explain it. Syed Shah
The tread on new tires is always very slippery, due to the proctective coatings on the tires. This coating takes a while to come off. Try a couple of burnouts, see if it cures your problem. May as well eliminate it as a possability.
fredm
Yeah I would agree with Syed Shah. It's the Releasing Agent on the tyres, the stuff helps the tyre come out of it's mould. This morning I put new wheels with new tyres on mine. The TRAC Light flashed like mad as I pulled off my drive and again as I pulled away from the T Junction at the end of our road. It's not done it since.
carl0s
super. thanks guys. How come I don't slide round corners though? I mean, I was accelerating as gently as is feasable with a supra. If the tires slip under that, then surely they'd slide round bends?
