Andrew
What is a "Basket clutch"? Seen one advertised on a Supra, can't find any info on what it means.
Digsy
It's a multiplate clutch. Used to reduce the inertia of the friction (driven) plate to speed gearchanges and make life easier for your gearbox synchros. Because if their construction it is a lot easier to package a high-torque clutch in a multi-plate design than a single plate design. In a multi plate clutch, the drive friction is simultaneously passed through several individual friction surfaces, all working in parallel. It is like a multi-layer "sandwich" of driven and driving plates. The driven plates are connected to the gearbox via a splined shaft as in a normal gearbox. The drive plates are connected to the flywheel via an internally splined "basket" which encases the whole clutch assembly. Sorry, difficult to describe in words. Maybe someone can post up a pic? Andrew
Great description thanks Digsy. Sounds like an expensive piece of kit.
Alex
On that car it was probably a HKS Triple... But it's sold I just found out...and it's been battered on the way over so it's no longer mint.

Ian C
That's the one, Alex was talking to me about it, apparently it looks like it's been in a tumble drier -Ian
Andrew
Oh dear, good job it's gone then. If you read the description, it says "HKS Turbo" , I'm sure they meant "HKS Turbo Timer". I sent an e-mail asking how it was fueled and with what size injectors etc, thinking it had a single turbo
Alex
Aparrently it was GT Twins...I'm waiting for a call back to confirm that...it might be worth "fixing" if the buyer doesn't want it...however I was speaking to the guy that deals with the 4x4's and not the Supra's hence I'm waiting for a call back... The NA-T they have is intriging, they only physically received it yesterday and haven't driven it yet. If this car is knackered I may ask them about finding something specific...as in reality I'm not in a rush. Though I can't wait to get back in a Supra. They also said they had issue's with their e-mail system atm...I phoned as they didn't respond to my e-mail asking for more info.
