intermittent auto fault

Recommended Posts

i have an intermittent fault with my auto box and traction control, there is 2 faults that always happen seperately but i think must be connected

1st fault, kick down at around 80 or more and it sticks in either 2nd or 3rd, i think its second, redlines and wont change up a gear (yes OD is off) but will change down, if i go up the revs slowly it will change up

2nd fault, turn engine on and the orange TRAC OFF light flashes every second or so, trac control is off and will not work at all, not even if i mess with the slip cont button, when it does this at first the box will not engage reverse (it still does the reverse beeb sound) it stays in neutral, it stays like this until i engage drive and then reverse then it is fine

this only happens once in a blue moon and they never happen together but it annoys the hell out me,

any ideas :conf:

Guys, have either of you got a Clifford Alarm? I have the same problem with flashin trac light and no reverse. it only happens when the immobiliser kicks in and you disarm it from from the remote with the ignition on. If you arm are disarm the alarm with the ignition off, does it go away?

Well I'm not sure if this applies to you, but, apparently I have a fault with my ignition barrel. There is a bit of play and when it is turned, it breaks contact for a millisecond. under normal circumstances it doesn't matter, but when the immobiliser kick and you reset it via the fob, it causes the ECU to loose power, and cause a fault code, If you look at the codes, you will see ABS and gearbox warnings. Reverse is there sometimes, but it comes in with a bang.

This has never been fixed as JIC went bust before they could sort it.

I hope this helps.
