BEERSHZ
My son has just phoned me to say theres been a major accident on his gas rig where he works, 3 people seriously injured 1 being his opposite, he got knocked of the rig into sea by a line breaking, and apparently the well they drilling cant be closed off and could blow any time I am so glad he"s home on leave. Is that wrong of me? I keep thinking what if and then feel guilty. Obviously our thoughts and best wishes are with the injured guys and we hope they make a speedy recovery. Rob
A guy I worked with had been injured in a gas rig explosion. Strangley his twin brother also worked in the same firm, it was like a before and after photo.
Class One
Nothing wrong with feeling that, it's a natural feeling any parent would have. Obviously thoughts are with those injured and the other souls trying to get it capped and sorted.
MrRalphMan
No point feeling guilty that your son is safe, totally natural reaction. Just glad for you that he was on leave. Hopefully everyone will be ok.. BEERSHZ
Thanks guys, he's been feeling odd today his words not mine not sure how he feels or should be feeling. A strange situation to be in really. Company being very cagey, he,s been trying ro find out how the guys are and what atually happened but they not saying much at the mo. I dont fully understand but some off you might, one of the hook lines snapped after it being changed and the guys were harnessed hanging off the derrick, the hook went into sea and took one of the guys with it one got lashed by wire very badly one taken to hosp with trauma of it all. Shilakadaddy
Yeah Piper Alpha was the big one, My Dad used to work on that too (not at the time it exploded). Not at all wrong of you to be glad your son was home at the time, as I opened this thread I was glad my dad is too! Let's hope the guys injured are going to be alright.
