rpslaughter1982
After reading Chris Wilson's thread on o-ring failure I decided to change all mine!!! I am having real trouble finding a place that sells Viton O-rings, can any one help. I really wanted to get them before the weekend. I need 3 viton o-rings for my aeromotive FPR and 1 for my fuel rail. They're all to go over an AN-06 nut. I have tried thinkauto (don't sell them) and polymax.co.uk (don't know AN sizes, just BSP) with no luck. I have found a site that sells BUNA-N seals but I don't know if these are good for fueling. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially if some one has some that I can buy off them!
rpslaughter1982
I've been looking around at avaialbe o-rings, they all seem to be in the british standard sizes (BSP). What o-rings have people used on their aeromotive FPR's? There are a number of similar sized BS sizes but i don't know how exact the o-ring sizes need to be. Am I being too fussy? Tricky-Ricky
Your aeromotive FPR should be fine unless it has a leak or is a few years old, are you talking about o rings that fit the Earls hosing, if so contact them direct, the std ones will be fine as they are intended for oil/fuel. supracharged
BSL supply alot of seals and o-rings at my work and are very good / quick however we do give them several £million every year so they should be, not sure how good they are with small customers. http://www.brammer.co.uk/seals.shtml to get one quickly you really need the BS number (not BSP) or if youve got an accurate way of measuring the 'slot' or gap it fits in - preferably a vernier caliper. measure 1) the diameter of the inside edge of the slot / what it fits over, 2) the diamater of the outside edge of the slot & 3) the thickness of the o - ring it self. they will then be able to provide you with the bs number and an oring. you can measure this with a rule but you need to get it right - if the oring is around 4 mm thick or more then they are quite forgiving and can be stretched a bit (couple of mm) if it is smaller the measurments need to be good. the thickness of the oring is the important one. Chris Wilson
AFAIK the BUNA-N seals are fine with pump fuel. I posted this this morning, but I have just realised it never seemed to appear on here.
