Ive just had a payment via paypal and it said in order for me to execpt it i have to upgrade to a premier account as i had accepted too many payments so far this year?!

I clicked the button which said upgrade and it said "thank you for upgrading". eh?!?! as simple as that? whats the catch? does this cost me anything or ?!?!

It's in the link there. Previously, you would have only been charged transaction fees for credit/debit card payments, not for Paypal balance transfers.

With a premier account, you get charged for all transactions.

Looks like it's 3.4%, not 2.9%

Hang on its seems its aimed predominately at business that have their own website so people with a good checkout account can easily buy from you. Not for joe public as far as i can see?!? please correct me if im wrong mind?

Google Checkout?

Yeah - that's there, checkout.google.com, but it's for internet vendors rather than just publicpublic payments I think.

you beat me to it! sounds quite good though but only if it took of in a big way!?

Oh - it'll get there, I expect. They're not pushing it too hard at the moment, but the service is pretty good and the API is dead simple to integrate with by the looks of it.

But unless they do public-to-public transactions, it won't ever complete with PayPal. And remember that PayPal = EBay too, which is what drives most of the public-to-public transactions on the web.

So they'll have to wait for GoogleBay (which actually wouldn't surprise me either!) until they compete with PayPal.

so how many accounts are there with Paypal?

I mean there must be millions? so any given day, paypal could if half of its customers made a transaction be rakeing in tens of millions of pounds per day, for doing nothing?!?
