Fargo
http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Templates/frmTemplateM7.asp?SubFolderID=199&SearchYN=N with the strong $ at the moment, ive been looking at US sites, what do you all think of the brake kits offered via MVP, mainly looking at the USA spec toyota TT calipers (the ones with the supra script writing), the direct replacement rotora discs and and project mu discs. Mas
I'd say Thats good price Paul, not sure if you could get them cheaper in UK !
Fargo
educate me on the calipers though mas, i assume that these are upgrades to the crappy jspec calipers, how do they compare to the UK spec calipers...are they one of the same.. as for the discs, are the ones i mentioned direct replacements of the jpsec or uk spec sized discs.. Homer
This is a thread Chris Wilson will love, but they are going to be lighter and have far greater breaking power. The down side is they are drilled, so may crack after a few tough race days (the discs should be considered expendable when you use this level of brake). It's a huge upgrade over the stock system, but be sure to balance it with a correctly sized rear brake setup. If you have the little j-spec brakes now, you will also want to change the master cylinder with the model from the larger brakes setup.
Mas
These are 6 pod Paul and the UK ones are 4 pod so these are bigger and better, and once you get the whole kit you wont have problems fitting them to a J-spec. But I would get a price on a full UK kit aswell (front and back) as they surely good enough and will save you some. Ask Nic (importpimp) and find out how much he could sort a UK set out, Im sure the best upgrade from Jap spec will be the UK ones, but surely the 6 pod ones you mentioned are excellent too. Not meaning to be picky (well maybe just a little )... just becaue they have more pots doesn't make them any better. Would you fit 8 pot motorbike brakes to your Supe? I think not Brembo's though are a very good brake system and provided you give your supra a balanced system it will be a huge improvement over the smaller stock setup. Hopefully CW will give his input at some stage

To be honest I've only had one scarey moment with the smaller jspec's in 3.5r yrs of ownership.

To be honest I've only had one scarey moment with the smaller jspec's in 3.5r yrs of ownership. my Uk's are in need of a nice set of pads I think, the reason I say that is, when I brake first the pedal goes really soft and it sort of starts braking half way, what I do is press abit once and break again, then it goes hard as usual, could it only the fluid? or Im right with the pads? but I think I have alot left on the pads when you look into them ! That isnt right mate! They should feel very stong under a small pedal depress and have a smooth operation regardless of pressure or speed. I've driven one UK spec and a couple of jspec Supe's with the larger brake setup that have felt really awful. Each time its been down to old fluid, horrible aftermarket pads or worn discs. Either way it'll need a look at fella. Properly sorted "UK Spec" brakes should be very strong and smooth at any speed. If your neck isn't hurting after a hard brake they ain't right
