SteveR
IIRC Jake said something recently about some NAs being fitted with 'fronts' all round.
csmadmatt
I'm not sure I need edumacating. I think your rears are too narrow. didnt mean to be patronising sorry if i came across that way and as far as i knew thatw as the way it was supposed to be tyre wise
Scoboblio
AFAIK you shouldn't have the same sized tyres all the way round, on any supra!
Jake
Apparently the correct size tyres for the NA are 225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 rear. However, I've seen NAs with 225/50/16 front and rear. I'm not 100% sure but I believe 225s were fitted all round (from new) on some of the earlier NAs.
Thorin
NA's came with either 225/245, or just 235's all round it seems, I wouldn't worry about it on an NA. Nobody's asked what make of rubber they are though... some cheap & nasty jap make possibly?
Getrag
Regardless, something is seriously wrong with spinning the rear wheels in all gears. Was this on ice? Clutch gone?
letmeshowyou
this wont help with the wheel spinning but with regards to the kicking out - getting the geometry checked might reveal a problem to you.
Chiefgroover
Considering that a 286BHP M3 can find good grip on 235's sounds like either really crap tyres or serious geometry issues. I'd go a bit lighter with the right foot until its sorted, as if its geometry it will take you by surprise with a big slide when your not expecting it. If its tyres, I can strongly recommend Bridgstone RE050a. The geometry reset should not be a camber/alignment only, front castor is a big issue with double wishbone systems. Or oil coming out of somewhere onto the tyres - but I'm sure he'd have spotted that....
Pot
As has been said, something must be amiss, my NA's nowhere near being able to spin in any gear...
csmadmatt
sorry i think i miss typed it only spins in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear when giving it some serious welly. its has Kuhmo tyres on at the moment but i am going to change these soon as i dont rate them at all (they were crap on my drift 200sx)
Pot
Ah... Obviously mine spins in 1st, a bit of spin slamming it into 2nd, but nothing in 3rd... I am running Toyo Proxy's on the back though (255/40/17) so that could be the difference...
csmadmatt
Possibly i think i just need some new wheels, to which i may have a set of 18 work split rims very soon so that should sort that problem.

Exactly what I would have said, if its spinning up in al gears something is seriously shot, get it looked at asap
letmeshowyou
The geometry reset should not be a camber/alignment only, front castor is a big issue with double wishbone systems. also, the thrust angle on mine was slightly out. Having it sorted transformed the car!
Rob
Possibly i think i just need some new wheels, to which i may have a set of 18 work split rims very soon so that should sort that problem. New wheels won't sort anything, it's the tyres, not the wheels, unless you are just using it as an excuse to your partner to splash out on some blinging'n'ringing stuff. What manufacturer is your current tyre and what condition/age are they? I'm hard pressed to spin up my NA in 2nd and third unless I absolutely mash it. EDIT, just read your previous post again , Kumho Ditchfinders??? That'll be why you're spinning up.
Flip
It'll be the tyres or the geom as peeps say - I have 235's all round on my BPU TT, and I have to put some effort in to get that to spin up in 3rd in the dry, can't see an NA having that sort of prob... Could check the surface of the tyres, make sure they aren't contaminated with anything you might have driven through? Maybe your neighbour nips out in the morning and covers your tyres in lard? csmadmatt
flip - it wouldnt suprise me my neighbours are taxi drivers and i think i woke one up with the exhaust this morning again (whoops) rob - yes that is the case its an excuse to the missus that way i can also get some new rubber for them and yer they are ditch finders i hate them no grip at all and upon close inspection it seems there isnt much tread left on the rear tyres anywaybout 5mm
Soop Dogg
and yer they are ditch finders i hate them no grip at all and upon close inspection it seems there isnt much tread left on the rear tyres anywaybout 5mm I've got a set of Khumos I use on my winter wheels and have never had a problem with them. As for the 5mm thing - did you measure that? New tyres only have about 7 or 8mm, so 5mm sounds fine.
csmadmatt
i only like new tyres yer i used a depth gauge
