Urgent help required - clutch

Recommended Posts

Just fitted my RPS max clutch and all is not well.

I cant engage gear with the engine running, if I use the starter in gear with clutch down I get a grinding noise - not the starter motor.

Yet when I put it in gear (engine off) and try to push the car it feels like its in gear.

The friction disc I was supplied was different to stock in that the stock one has a nose (one short other long) protruting from the center, splined hole)

The RPS disc only has the nose one side and is flush

the other.

Any ideas please.

Shouldnt be any problems with that, I replaced my standard clutch with one of those and it was fine except for having a vicious biting point, but then i did install the RPS segmented flywheel as well :)

Did you replace the release baring as well?

Sounds like the clutch isn't releasing fully, so isn't properly disengaging. This means you won't be able to get it into gear the same way as you can't when trying to get first gear without pushing the clutch down first (we've all done that at some point!).

Sounds like you don't have the right part or the clutch plate isn't compatable with the release diaphgram.
