Guest DMo
Hi all, Can someone tell me what the pipe is behind front the bumper with a cap that just has "H" on it please? The cap is about 10mm across. Along side there is a glass eye type thing, presumably to check the levels of what ever fluid goes in there. I only noticed this evening that the cap wasn't tight and I don't think there is any fluid showing in the eye. I'm on a nice long drive down to Cornwall tomorrow. It's my first long drive in the car and want to ensure it's not my last. As I've not had any problems, I'm guessing it's for something minor like the active spoiler which I don't use. Thanks alot. D. Guest DMo
Air con Thanks Michael. The aircon is ice cold at the moment so I guess there is enough of whatever fluid in there. So what goes in the pipe? Sorry I know nothing about these things. Thanks, D.
Homer
I think the top of the pipe should be green if all is good with your air con fluid. Then again I could be way off!

It's a bit dark so not sure of the colour. Will check tomorrow. I thought aircon had to be gassed or something and that they self lubricate. Didn't know you had fluid to top up. I'm guessing there are different types then. Is there an electronic manual available or can anyone recommend a good source to purchase? English of course. Cheers...D. Homer
It's a closed system and cannot be "topped up". It needs a professional to regas the system. It is not expensive though, I think around the £60 mark.

Best get it checked out though. D.
TrickTT
The plastic cap is just a dust cover. There is a high pressure valve underneath it to keep the gas in. If you are ever up in the midlands, Ibrar at Pro Alloys check and regas your aircon for a lot less than £60.

Makes sense. Didn't want to take it off completely though. Well, like I said, the aircon seems ok, so hopefully nothing to worry about then. Will probably get the levels checked soon though. Cheers all for the info. D.
mikeyb10supra
Its a recharge point as others have said, the colour Homer was talking about is a dye they feed in to allow easy problem solving when there are leaks in the system etc, some are UV sensitive so it can be pip-pointed through the maze of pipes
