I took mine just in case but don't remember the nice lady in the post office looking at it tbh. Have a look on the government website. Warning the site is poo!! H. I think you would need the V5 for the website as it asks you to type in your 'Document Reference number' which is on the front of the V5 Its worth trying the Post Office if you are desperate but should image without the tax renewal letter that you would need your V5, but am not 100% on this.
