Bob
When I reinstalled windows on my new hdd (some years ago now), it would only let me set the primary partition to about 20gb. Which has been fine for what I use it fo, but I have a seperate partition with 86gb free, doing absolutely sod all. I use it for storing movies, music, etc. But now I'm running out of space on the primary partition, and cos all my programmes are installed there, some games/progs/etc. won't run happily if I install them to the D: drive (2nd partition). Is there any way I can merge the two, or shuffle a bit of free space from the secondary to the primary? Much obliged, I lost contact with technology some years ago and am now sliding towards a grandad-like understanding of computers Long live DOS, I say! JustGav
Partition magic will allow you to do dynamic resizing, so you could grow the 20gb partition.. as with anything like this, there is an element of risk, but to be fair not had an issue so far. Pete
You can do it with a Knoppix Live CD, which is also free. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&hs=Orb&q=KNOPPIX+Live+Linux+CD+resize+windows+partition&btnG=Search&meta= Acronis is excellent stuff though.
