Head gasket gone?

What causes head gaskets to go? I have a HKS 2mm head gasket that was fitted just over a year ago. I have had issues recently with my heaters not working but put it down to an airlock after changing my rad. I tried letting it bubble over a couple of times but still no luck.

I just fitted a Greddy oil cap and today took it off to have a look and there was white residue and water droplets on it. My temp gauge still reads normal. No overheating at all.

Yesterday I did take a steam cleaner to the engine (mainly underneath) due to a split PS pipe leaking. That wouldn't have made any difference would it?

I'm going to take it for a spin today and see if it uses any water.

Any ideas? Or is it pretty certain its fooked?

:D

White creamy residue around filler cap is most times normal especially if car has been cold/damp.

If coolant was leaking into engine side oil level wud go up and you would see evidence on dipstick I reckon ; coolant wud also go from rad.

swop shop

Lol.

Ok, all is good, took the motor out for a good caining today and finally the heaters started working. I left it idleing for ages yesterday with the front jacked up and with the rad cap off to try and get rid of the air lock and it obviously worked. Thats probably were the condensation comes in. Car idleing from cold with no cap on.

Just me be paranoid
