Sheefa
Guys, Bought a brilliant Transmission cooler from Steve (K14SUP) who got them from the USA. I already have one on from MKIVStore as a freebie which was nice However, the new one is thicker and I'm guessing better. Chris Wilson made a fantastic custom bracket to fit the MKIV tranny cooler to my FMIC. Just wondered if I could do a straight swap easily? Forgive my ignorance, but there's no 'fluid' in the pipes is there to cool, just air? Confused! Thanks, Greg
Gamer
The new one should be able to use the brackets no problem... Yes, there is transmission fluid in the cooler/hoses mate, NOT air.
Sheefa
Thanks Gamer, not the response I was looking for though! Now I'm going to have to drain, or stop the fluid to replace right. Any guidance as to how to best do this appreciated. I don't want to lose all of the newly replenished fluids! Thanks. Greg
terribleturner
You need a pair of clamps to go on each hose before you start to pull them off. Or be under the car with a 2nd set of hands. You will be loosing fluid but there's not much you can do about it.
Sheefa
Thanks James. Will have to try and find something along the lines of clamps then!. What about bending each hose at the tip and duct taping it alike when you step on a hose pipe! I know, I know, I'm clutching at straws here! terribleturner
You can try but if memory serves they are too stiff. You could always have a try. What about cable ties?? That would work with them bent in two.
_Rob_
If youve got everthing ready and your quick, you can pull the pipes off the old and stick them on the new without loosing much fluid. I did this on mine. Pull one off, connect up, wait for fluid to come through the other end of the cooler, then put the other pipe on the other end. Other than that, i find mole grips are a winner. HTH.
TrickTT
The fluid comes out very slowly, Greg. With the position of your cooler, you can just lift the pipes so the open ends are pointing up and almost mone should come out.

Rich, lol, that does seem the most logical method! God I'm dim! Shouldn't be hard to mount the new ones in that case. Cheers
mikeyb10supra
Your going to lose some fluid whatever happens, just make sure the reservoir is full when you restart the car, might be worth buying some to top up once you have finished!
