Guest NiceGuyEddy
Hi guys With it being a lovely Sunday afternoon, thought I would just pop some new headlight bulbs into the Soop. However, what is probably the easiest job and quickest to do has so far turned into about 25mins. The bulbs I've got are PIAA HB4 for the dipped beam lights. They just won't fit! Tried them for the main beam lights (just incase I got the HB4 and HB3 mixed up) but no luck. Also tried trimming the little plastic bits round the edges as they seemed bigger than the ones on the bulbs I took out, but still no luck. Was wondering if anyone else had any probs with PIAA bulbs in jspec cars before. I'm sure I've seen something on getting bulbs to fit but can not find it for the life of me. Cheers:)
Rayman
9005 are what you want to fit the dipped and main beam headlights on the j-spec. The dipped ones will need modifying slightly to fit, i think its just the lug inside where it connects. I think youve got 9006 bulbs, thats why they dont fit. Guest NiceGuyEddy
   Thanks Rayman for the tip. Seems like the plastic bit where the "o" ring is (just underneath the bulb itself) is too wide in diameter. I stupidly relied on what was printed in the translated supra handbook and got hb4 for the dips when it seems hb3's are needed for jspecs. Doesn't look like there's any way of modding these bulbs unless anyone knows any tips Damn, good bulbs as well. Anyone interested in a pair of PIAA Super White HB4's? Errr, with the lugs slightly trimmed
Nic
Eddy the 9006/HB4 bulbs you have bought will fit in the UK spec glass Supra headlights (dipped beam) so you may be able to sell them in the classifieds section of the forum. As said on your J-spec headlights you will need to use 9005/HB3 bulbs in the high and low beam. You will need to remove a rib on the connector to the loom to make them fit. Ive been pissing around with headlight bulbs what seems like forever,I got 9005 bulbs for the dipped , although the loom wants the 9006, yeah I know they dont fit,too wide, so trimmed down the loom connector, the 2 ribs so that bits fine, but when I put the bulb in the headlight it doesnt seem to turn in very much . so I trimmed as best I could the actaul bulb lugs , the 3 prongs on the actual bulb, but now the bulb still doesnt turn very much but also feels "wagglely" not very snug fit. Is there a "how Too" anywhere with photos on this , or can I buy Jap spec bulbs from somewhere

However I wrapped them neatly with black electrical tape around the lugs turn and fit snug. Theve been on four months now with no problems and no alteration in beam (over bumps).
