Steering wheel Vibration on heavy braking

far

Recommended Posts

In the lude when I am doing 60+ and I brake firmly I get a shaking/vibration feedback on the steering wheel.

I noticed this before I changed my pads but thought it was because the pads where getting low.

I know have new OEM pads and the feedback persists, could this be warped disc(s) sticky caliper ?

Honda didnt notice any problems when they did the service/pad change a week or so ago

I hope its ok posting this in tech as its not supra related

Probably a warped front disc(s), although it's not common. I can check them properly with a dial test indicator, and have new ones in stock.

Also new J-Spec front and rear calipers, NOT Lexus ones with wrong piston size, correct Supra TT ones.

His talking about his Prelude Chris, not a Soop.

Ah ok - cheers guys,is it safe to drive with warped discs ? i.e. would they cause more damage to anything ? Its only apparant on firm to heavy breaking when stopping from higher speeds.

Also any ideas what causes discs to warp ?

heat :) sitting with your foot on hot brakes at traffic lights is great for warping disks, hence why you should use a handbrake - and it also helps to stop dazzling people behind you  ;)

(the you above is not aimed at you, but generic drivers who do such things ;))

Warped disks are fine unless its severe. Just irritating.

My poxy sierra does this all the time now. The previous sierra I had also did it. When it gets so bad that it does it even at low speeds I change the discs and it goes away. Probably doesn't do ball joints and other misc suspension parts much good long term but you aren't keeping long term so not really an issue for ya.
