chilli
I need to set up a server at work. It has some version of Fedora core on it already (think it is 4.1) I've setup up most of what I need, but I need (the latest versions of preferably) Ant (1.7) and Tomcat (5.5 or 6) now, if I use yum it only seems to find tomcat5, which is installed already - and Ant is no where to be found. would it be best I just download the tar files and unpack then, setting up the environment by hand? in which case where is a good place to put something like ant. or would I be better off using a package repository and and package installer? in which case where can I get the latest ant and tomcat packages ready to install? sorry for the basic question, but I'd rather do it right once than have troubles later the current instal of tomcat 5 (as installed by yum) seems to have some parts under /etc but I can't find the rest of it, like the webapps directory. Any ideas where that might be and if I install by hand I have to replicate this structure?
Pete
Sorry dude. I've never used Fedora. I'm a FreeBSD man. Comes with the handy Ports structure.
