CJ
I have just got off the line to TalkTalk and they are next to bloody useless. I have been experiencing very slow line speeds (56k type speed) for the past day or so and today decided to speak to their "technical support". After keeping me holding for over 10 minutes, a lady from India then tells me that I should do 6 speed tests, log the results and then ring them back tomorrow. Her reasoning was that it may be a problem due to increased traffic. I explained that I had done the speed tests since yesterday and that the results all showed a crap line speed. Off she went again and came back in 15 minutes to tell me that she has reported the fault to a level 2 technician and that they will look into it and come back to me with 48 hours. Oh I really wish I had not gone with these bunch of bloody cowboys!
Pete
As with all things in life... You get what you pay for. On the flip side, my dad was with them and had no problems at all. It's just when you need help they suck.

jamesmark
I know what you mean CJ, after having Talk Talk for the phone only and broadband through BT, I decided to go over to them. Change over was smooth no issues and for the first month I was happy no issues etc, then it happened, one night my broadband went off (had played up past couple of nights but all suppliers have issues) called TT and they done test after test after test, in the end I knew what all the tests were they were done that much. after 4 weeks of no BB and speaking to many Malcolms over in India they told me that I could not have broadband as I am to far away from the exchange and that I had to find another supplier. So now back with BT and all is fine. The thing that gets me is the non UK call centres and the fact my neighbour that is only 8ft away has BB from............... you guessed it Talk Talk and they have a speed of 1.5mb. MrHanky
It seems that most ISP's just use people totally incapable of dealing with broadband issues for their 1st tier support. When joing Sky BB I spent a total of 7 hours on the phone to various tier 1 and 2 support people. One of them was clearly reading a script. The dumbest thing that I was asked was to do was to try putting in a different URL. This was after we had done tests to find the problem and after I had told them that an IP address was not being assigned to me from them. Eventually I got fed up of waiting for a call (another callback within 48 hours) and decided to blag my way to their 3rd tier support. This lady was based in the UK, obviously knew what she was talking about and had my broadband working within 5 minutes. Mark

Nathman
I used to sell their products to businesses before I got made redundant just before christmas. They are indeed awful, It did get to the point where I flatly refused to push their product, because they upset a few of my loyal customers and damaged my reputation in the process, by generally being as useful and helpful as a kick in the head! I would not recommend using their services for business or personal use!
geoffvalenti
Unfortunately, I had a few customers that changed over to them because it was free, but as Pete so rightly put it, you get what you pay for. It makes it a lot more difficult to threaten to withhold payment, when you're not actually paying for it As for the foreign call centres, well all of them are useless, no matter what industry they are trying to "support"
CJ
I went with them as their phone offering alone was worth it. The Broadband came as a bully bonus Now I am seriously thinking that I may keep their phone service but see if I can transfer to another ISP. CJ
If you can get away from them Col, you won't be making a mistake TBH Geoff, providing I stick to my agreement with the land line, I don't think they will give two hoots. I need to wait just a few weeks though as I have plans in the pipeline that may just make the whole thing needing a rethink
