I'm sure there is a good thread about this somewhere with some enlightening Digsy posts....

Found this one:

Sort of what I said, but because I'm an idiot it's not exactly what I said! :D

Sounds like the knock sensors aren't that precise and the lower octane fuel you use the more likely it is to knock!!!

Basically it will work on normal stuff - but on your head be it!!!!!

So you have your Porridge with salt? :)

I make it with salt, then cover it in sugar and float the lot on full cream milk- it's the only way I can eat the stuff.

(if you think that's bad the Danes eat porridge made from stale bread and sour beer- and it tastes as bad as it sounds..)

Excellent! it sounds like you West coast folks eat it with salt and the East coast don't....? not sure I find that interesting? but here is the thread that explains it... :)

I know it's has been done to death on here, but surely in 1993 when the car was made there was not so much high octane fuel about at retail pumps even in Japan? engine was designed for 95 says in the jap manuals even.Always runs better on high though, just like Stella gets you pissed quicker than Fosters:)

Soooo is it a myth that normal unleaded can knacker your engine, there must be somebody who has blown a piston or something using 95 ron otherwise where has the high octane debate come from ?????

Even if they had, I think it would be very hard to prove it was purely due to the lower octane petrol.
