oh bugger  do you know to buy a good new one will cost 4/500 quid

Theres a slim chance we still have one at work. Just the drafting machine, not the board or stand as we still use those. If we have, it will be AOA (AO Extended) size top runner. Cant look till monday though.

I bought mine in the days when I did all the design work by hand, Rotring pens and drafting film etc. But times change, like Tony, I thought they had become dinosaurs...couldnt be bothered to advertise it. Hope you find one, I feel bad now.

You know Adrian Newey still uses a drawing board to design the cars. Surprised me that a designer at the sharp end of technology hasn't embraced CAD fully.

Mike

I still use a drawing board for all the conceptual stuff, sketches and rough general arrangements and layouts. I can draw faster by hand than by CAD and I hate sketching on computer with a tablet etc., but as for the actual production drawings, I'm really suprised any design house would use anything but 2D or 3D CAD these days.

**Wonders how long it is until someone thinks you put 'Drifting Machine'**

I remember the days of those (sorry if they're still used today), my Dad used to work on those for a company that sold various bits of things to the millitary, I went there once for the 'kids disco' the one time when his office was next to the canteen, you could see his desk through the window, and he'd stuck pictures of me and my sister all of the way down the edge...

Even at the age of 10-12 (I can't remember exactly when it was), it felt sickening, but slightly comforting :)...

He's retired now, but I'm always tempted to get him one for his study so he can draw and design again...

Gary, I have a spare A0 machine attachment and board support (no board) if you'd like to have them for a small amount of sheets... it's rather old, and I've not had a look at the parallel motion for ages, but would be much happier if they were put to use.

Let me know :)
