garethr
All four dogs on the DDA list are not recognised by the UK kennel club as breeds- so on whose authority does enforcement take place? They were very careful to word the law using the word "type", not "breed", which is why numerous Staffs and Staff crosses were killed, along with mongrels whose dam had never been near any sort of bull terrier. The so-called authorities were RSPCA inspectors and a few vets who, presumably, made a good living out of being "expert" witnesses. The Kennel Club were only concerned that none of "their" breeds were proscribed when they assisted the government. Japanese Tosa -- one in the UK at the time. Fila Brasileiro -- none in the UK Dogo Argentino -- none in the UK Why they picked on the latter two breeds is still a mystery.
bsdmr2
I agree with Gaz. The DDA should definately be changed/abolished. Emphasis and restriction should be placed on the owner not the dog. I own a Bull Terrier (English) and it is the most loveable and soft dog with humans there is, yet we get people literally screaming, crossing the road and completely changing direction just to avoid walking past us! And he is only a 10 month old puppy!

Statisticly that child is more likely to be murdered by it's own parents than killed by a dog.

Bigger mystery is that all three breeds are not the ones used in Africa to heard up slaves (forgot it's name btw).

Thorin
Most people freeze in abject terror when they see a great dane come bounding towards them. Probably for the best as she likes chasing if they ran off

Lovely dogs, have a friend in Weston who's got two of those, absolutely monstrous but possibly the softest and most gentle creatures ever!

I've taken to starting the game of; loosen the lead ever so slightly as nervous people walk past/towards me, so he jerks forwards a bit! Or pretend that he is immensly strong and am struggling to keep hold of his lead! You should see them run!
