Help with Boost setting for a TT

This has probably been answered but i can't seem to find it.

I recently purchased a 6 speed TT that needed a fair amount of work on it. After getting it running and up to par, I am stuck on what i should set the boost controller at. When i bought it, it came with an apexi avc type R boost controller and everything was reset when i put the new battery in. I don't know much about this boost controller, or how much boost i should run in my car. I want it faster than stock, but also i don't want to worry too much about things breaking. I have access to a dyno if that means anything. Please help out with this.

When i got it the left rear CV axle was snapped. I replaced that and have done some body work on it. nothing to the motor besides replacing the battery.

Ok

Just noticed you are in the US, which will mean you are running a car similar to our UK/Euro spec cars. Boost can be slightly higher than a JDM car, but not by much. i would advise only lifting the bost to around 1.0 bar until you are used to it, and then a max of around 1.2 - 1.3 bar.

Is the car fitted with an FCD (removes fuel cut)

quickest way is to up the boost to 1.2 bar and see if the car will reach it. If it doesnt get there and the car feels like its applied the brakes hard or hit a brick wall then that means you havent got one :)

...or you could check by the ecu in the passenger footwell to see if there is one there
