MrRalphMan
I posted a while back to say that my back lights were out around the heater controls. I've just noticed that they do come on, but go off one the ignition is switched on. I have to admit that they looked good while they were on. Any one got an idea why they go off when the ignition is on? Many Thanks, Paul.
SimonM
I have the same problem with mine have taken the control apart but i've been unable to fix it as all the contacts are ok so i thinks its down to a damaged pcb
stupra
I've also got this problem, sometimes the lights work, other times they dont, doesn't matter if the ignition is on or not with mine, sometimes they come on when i'm driving along. Matt Harwood has had a quick look at them before now, an cleaned all the bits up, so I think i'll get him to have another look.
Ric
probably some sort of dry joint.
Ian W
hit it. mine would occassionally go off but a short, sharp tap on the side of the dash where the a/c control unit is usually sorted it out

heckler
its a dry joint on the small pcb in the heater control unit - where the orange plug is soldered onto the pcb... clicky...
MrRalphMan
But mine are fine off 'Ignition on', just off when it is on.. Might be worth a try though, all I need now is someone who can solder.
heckler
could be a chance that is the heater/AC ecu...
MrRalphMan
could be a chance that is the heater/AC ecu... Don't like the sound of that. Does the ECU control when the lights come on? It's only the background lights that are affected, the 'status' lights are fine.. Paul.
heckler
ok, the heater back lights uses the same feed as all of the others (dash/switches etc...) so assuming there working OK, i guess your looking at a possible wiring snag. wiring diagram for that is here I'd be tempted to see if you could borrow another heater control unit as the first step before trying to chase wiring snags
