My Clutch/flywheel/Gearbox is making a strange noise.....

Sometimes when my car is idling, generally after being driven abit hard, but also below 1800 rpm when in gear there seems to be like a rubbing sound coming from my clutch/flywheel/gearbox. :( The noise goes away completely as soon as I put my foot on the clutch......

Seems to have happened since I had my clutch and flywheel upgraded.

Someone I spoke to said it would be a dodgy release bearing.

Dont know if this is serious or not, does seem to be effecting the performance of my car at the moment as the power is getting thorough fine.

does the noise dissapear when you put your clutch in? if so it the release bearing 100%

Yeah, as soon as I put my foot on the clutch the sound stops. So every time I stop at traffic lights I have to sit with my foot on the clutch as the noise isn't that nice..... and this hurts my foot :(

Release bearings can be noisy, but also the output shaft bearing can cause this when its a little worn, i wouldn't worry to much the one on my S14 was quite noisy but never gave any trouble.

How much do you think would it cost to get these bearings replaced??

Did you fit an aftermarket clutch and lightened flywheel?

If you did then the noise is quite normal.

If it is the OEM clutch then something isn't right.

Yeah i've upgraded to RPS Segmented flywheel and RPS 6 puck sport clutch with a sprung hub....
