Chiefgroover
Ok before you faint, I have posted in off topic before! lmao! OK Puter experts...... My POS system which runs XP home edition, prints receipts to a Epson gereric thermal printer. My motherboard quit so i fitted a new one. However I tried to connect the power lead not realising the wall switch was on it started up (touchscreen type I always start it from the wall) with no printer attached. It now cant print to it. I have tried all sorts of settings, com1 re directed to LPT3 etc, and the sucker wont print. It WILL print a windows test page, and the POS programme is in windows. Has anyone any idea how I can sort this. Supplying computer company want thousands just cause i didnt take or need tech support for a few years. If anyone is SURE they can fix it, I would reward them generously. (prob with a Aug 2002 Supra with 1000bhp and fab ice and permantly adoring fab fit blond for the passenger seat etc). I have had a mate who works with puters spend a few hours and get nowhere, so it a tricky one it seems. Help! Christmas is coming !

carl0s
What POS system is it? The Microsoft Retail thingy? I have a pal who runs his comptuer shop on that so may be able to get some advice if so. Is it a serial printer or parallel?
Chiefgroover
Carlos, Its not the microsoft one, and the printer is serial ( i think?). I was told there may be a problem with one of the .ini files. Such a small problem causes loads of hassle! help!!

Mike
have you tried switching it off and back on again?
chilli
oh I guess then there is probably an ini file for the software, probably containing the wrong settings...
Mike
if he just swapped out the motherboard that wouldn't change what was in the ini file...? sounds like whatever software prints the receipts needs reinstalling..? have you still got the install set? give that a whirl? chilli
ahhh but the hardware may be different now and the ini file now doesn't match?
