Igition help (pics of spark plugs)

I'm in the process of swapping in a jspec 2jz-gte VVTI in my 2nd Gen GS300. Having some problems getting my engine to run.

These are the spark plugs after some attempt to get it running.

Looks like cylinder 1 & 6 isnt firing correctly. Can smell raw gas on 1&6 only.

Spark tester was installed on spark #1 and looks like spark is cutting out causing motor to shut down.

Coils were swapped and same symptoms would occur no matter what coil is on the location over plug 6

What should we check?

Here is a picture of my plugs from 1-6

What is the condition of the plastic clips that fit on the coil packs? These tend to become brittle and can cause ignition problems, might be worth swapping in some new ones to see if it sures the problem.

Do you have an aftermarket piggyback or stanalone ECU fitted? If you do then I'd also check the connection for this in the footwell.

Good Luck

there are plastic caps that go over the coil? i dont have any on either of them.

We swapped the coils around and 1&6 is still cutting out.

I'm running on the stock Jspec Aristo ECU.

The plastic connectors on the end of the wiring loom, that connect to the coil packs.

I cant check the code because i dont have a proper code reader for it. Something about the VVTI GTE's being a different protocol. Anybody know of any affordable readers that is able to read the code?

Here is a list of what we tested

-Coils were tested with a multimeter

-Coils were swapped to a different location (still have the same problem no matter what coil is over cylinder 6)

-Multimeter to check the coil pins to the ignitor.. they are fine

-Swapped out ignitor and still doing the same thing.
