Normal ?

Is it the 6 speed box?

I believe it is totally normal. Some people agree, some don't

My car has now done 35K miles since I bought it and it's still the same - nothings fallen off or blown up! I've had the drive train all checked out and it's fine

I'd definitely get it checked out. Does it sound like it's in the drive train? Does it sound like the diff again?

Do you have the stock LSD or open diff?

Dont know tbh, im not a mechanic, just a kinda rocking feel from the gear, like something engaging. if u push the clutch in and out in gear u get a knocking. I think it may be normal, just wasnt sure.

Mine does this too but only when putting it in 1st after sitting in Neutral at the lights. Deep sounding thump from the back. My auto NA used to do it too when selecting drive or reverse.

Is yours doing it like when your on the move? every gear change?

If you're not sure if you have an LSD or open diff check the Trans/Axle number on the VIN plate in the engine bay. If the number ends with A it is an open diff, if it ends in B it is an LSD.

It ends in a B, just had a look. Is that good ? or bad ?

Mate,

If you are still worried then book it in with Phoenix in Watford. Ask them to do Gearbox oil and Diff oil change and tell them you are worried about the noise. Mark will check it out for you. Tell him I sent you there.

Worth the trip!

Cheers,

Ro
