Subaru Forrester

Just a quick Question for those in England / around that area.

Was the Subaru Forrester released locally for you lot??

Reason I ask, my old man is possibly moving from Australia to England for work, and my parents would like to take their Subaru Forrester with them, as its a good reliable car, and all the rest.

So before they rushed into it I said "I know - I will ask all the legends on the European Supra Forums about importing cars to the Europe"

Firstly - is this car available local, so any mechanic will know what it is, and parts will be able to be sourced locally, otherwise if its not released local, parts will need to be imported and servicing will be more expensive and blah blah blah??

Secondly - I know in australia you can import a vehicle if you have privately owned it for 12 months in a different country and you are pretty much exempt from compliancing, just need it to pass licencing. Whats the G-O in England?? What sort of processes are required for them to bring their car with them from Australia to Europe??

Also, it means if they move I will have to come and visit them, and possibly try and meet some of you guys whilst I am over there :D

oh - and to begin with they will be living in Bristol, before moving to London (this means nothing to me - but it will do to those of you more local)

Cheers

Still depends on what they could get for the car there VS buying one here.

I am not sure on the Australian market, but cars depreciate in value very quickly here.

Might be worthwhile trying to get the company to front the cash to buy the car here. Is it KMs in Australia, not miles?
