michael
Enabled by default but Tools > Options > Advanced > General takes you to the place where you can turn it off. It only seems to work on some sites, a very small number

CJ
I just loaded that and it works fine too - thanks Pete. Jake, that was disgustingly funny!
Pete
It's a bit odd. The first time I installed FF2 on a machine it actually told me I needed to do this and linked to dictionaries to install, but it was one of these first load screen that nobody reads. I then noticed that on all subsequent installs I've done it didn't show this screen anyway, so you wouldn't intuitively know out of the box you had to do it. Pete
Was the first one a beta or RC maybe? You may have something there. First one was the one linked the night before release that someone posted on this site. The others were from the official links. Maybe there is a difference after all. RedM
It works fine for me on this site. It shows as underlines (in red) for wrongly spelt words.

michael
Mine works a bit better now I have the dictionary installed. No idea what was doing the spellchecking for me before though, it was totally different to FF. Sadly we are IE only at work so I'll continue to spell everything badly
RedM
Hence it makes you look clever! Hmmm, I wish. Most of the time I don't bother checking what I've just written.
