mikeyb10supra
was'nt aware there was sealant, thought it was a gasket on its own? I would be interested to know this as well + are you doing the job yoursel? this is something I will be doing in a few weeks so would be interested to know how you get on!! Ive heard the covers are a real pain to prize off....actually come to think of it, the prizing is probably down to the sealant so that makes sense
jim_supra
I got some from Toyota when i replaced my cam cover gaskets, was cheap enough, can't remember what it was called though. It seemed to be just a high temp. silicone.
colsoop
Sorry should have been more clear. I am planning on removing the inner metal part of the cam cvoers on an n/a. As i want to attempt to chrome them but can't with the inner metal section in place. This inner metal section is selaed all round with like a brown sealant. I think you mean the partition plate actually inside the camcover? Careful application of a silicone-free RTV sealant will do the trick. Be very careful not to get any excess squashing out or to block up any holes or slots there may be in the plate.

Yep thats what i meant thanks, the n/a design is quite simple, and is only screwed in place so shouldn't be too bad.
spaxy
hello mate, its LOCTITE ULTRA GREY sealant that you need, local toyota dealer, halfords or motor factors should do it
TLicense
The sealant from Toyota is very expensive (£30 odd quid when I bought some from them whilst doing my valve stem seals) It's a specific Toyota sealant, not a proprietry/3rd party job, but I can't see why something like the loctite product mentioned above wouldn't be just as good. If you still want the toyota part no. do a search for my valve stem seal thread, and the part no. is in the first post. Hope that helps.
ChrisSZ
Colin, whilst you're at it how about having a go at the spark plug cover that runs between the covers? It's metal with a rubberised cover?
