Hey, i resent that remark:d it did shit me up when I unbolted the pipes from the pump and the air con gas shot out (very loudly) everywhere, was not expecting that at all, but it was a very manly shout:p It's far easier to remove the engine and 'box together, just drop the gearbox support (make sure you support the box with a trolley jack or something), and disconnect the prop shaft. Was your dad there? Anywho, the car is jacked up quite high with no bumper so I might me able to lower the whole assembly and slide it out as one.... jim_supra
It's best to lift the engine and 'box out of the engine bay rather than drop the sub frame, which you will have to do if you want to take the engine out the way you're thinking. TrickTT
You should get it degassed at a proper facility where they collect the gas, but (ahem) just unscrew the grey plastic cap on the aircon pipe with the 'L' on it and press the valve with the end of a screwdriver and the gas will come out. fredm
Don't open the system and vent the gas into the atmosphere FFS! There's enough shite being pumped into the atmosphere without needlessly adding to the problem. Go to your local garage or who ever does air-con and get them to evacuate the system. If the system is open to atmosphere for more than 3 hours you should replace the Drier Unit (when reconnecting back up ) as I have been told the Dessicant in there will become saturated. Should'nt cost more than a £10 to evacuate the system, the Air Drier is about £30.
JustGav
Yeah, be very careful doing it, as it gets RIGHT on your chest if you accidently release it...
