Not the pre-resin waver thin sheets, but the proper weave as I want to have a crack and fabricating some items but everywhere just has the pre-fabbed stuff only place I found was in the states, there must be someone in the UK? cheers, Hob

Jspec Germany
Do a search mate. Somebody on here was building a custom carbon airbox. There's pics in the thread and that member may be able to give you details.

hob
What weave are you after and how much do you need ? pass on the weave, I wanted the best looking I think it's twill?? Needs to be about 100cm x (~30cm)
ChrisSZ
Twill's the one you want:) Really shows off the weave. Have a check on ebay - there's often some on there in a variety of sizes for sale. BTW - I assume you realise that it won't have either the strength or lightness of the real CF? It's just glorified GRP if you're doing it at home - the real stuff uses a fancy process of vacuum/pressure to remove as much of the resin as possile thus making it nice and light etc. Or try these guys http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS_Catalogue__Carbon_Fibre_Fabric_35.html

ChrisSZ
Can't see a hoover being able to apply enough vacuum to make a real difference.

Yea obviously you would need a beefcake compressor, some actually use fridge compressors, but other than that is there anything else you would need? TLicense
I suggest you check out this company:- http://www.ambercomposites.co.uk/index_files/page0002.html You need to decide what weight and resin content of the CFRP you require. It's not a particularly easy process to master from the off, but it's not particularly difficult to get reasonable results pretty soon either. Chris Wilson
I use a company down south for autoclaved vac moulded CF work, they have just done me a pair of R33 Skyline doors in their autoclave. They should be able to do an airbox if you have the right moulds. They aren't dirt cheap, but I didn't think they were expensive either. E-mail me if you want a conatct number.
