had this question asked of me recently and didn't know the answer so hence this post. as we all know, a fair few of the cars on this board are between 5 and 10 years old and creakiness (sorry but don't know the tech speak for this) tends to set in with older cars. is there any way to combat this to make give it that tighter (hope you know what i mean) feeling, more well-srewed together sense etc etc ? any thoughts are appreciated ... :)

You asked for it! :p

Seriously though, when I first got the manual car, it creaked a lot too. (In fact, so did the auto). Liberal use of self adheasive foam sealant strips on various trim panel joints cured most of them, Dynamat cured a few more, Cable ties cured a remaining few, and then I added another few when I fitted the audio and phone kit! :innocent:

Care to tell us exactly what parts you where having trouble with? ...and what you did to them? ;)

The entire interior!

When I first got this car, I changed the trim, and wanted to fit the best part of the audio and alarm system while the car was stripped. As it went back together I made sure nothing rattled or squeaked.

But as the dash has been off several times since, I now have some dash rattles again, and I can't be bothered to pull it apart again! :(

yeah - i guess i did kinda ask for it ! thanks for your thoughts matt but i am guessing (only!) on mine that it is body panels or the chasis that is making noise - is there any cure for this ? or could this NOT possibly be the case at all ?

If body panels are creaking, you have a problem! (excluding rear hatch and aeroflop roof panels...)

Suspension bolts seem to work loose after a period of time. There have been several posts about this in the past, one of which, by Steve Cargill was reserected recently...
