monkey76364
Just gone out tho the Supra to go out and great it wont start !!! When i turn the engine over there is just a fast ticking noise a bit like a drill?!?!?! Noteven sounding like it wants to turn over. Could it be a flat bat? or alternator??? ..... Help please
Branners
flat battery I would suggest. Not enough power to turn it over. Get a jump start on there or a portable battery pack and see if it turns over then.
lockys96
that is 100% flat battery mate. ive had that so many times, but now have an optima and all is fine, did you leave any electrical item on overnight?

Branners
indeed. I carry a portable jump start with me at all time because my car spends so much time with a run down battery. It can also take quite a long journey to get a really decent charge in to the battery so make sure you give it a good run before parking it up again. SteveR
Flat battery could be for several reasons though, no? - not driven for a while/only used for short runs (not enough time to recoup starting charge) - failing alternator - failing battery How old is your battery monkey? MrRalphMan
My car did this after my hol in Norfolk. Quick few hours with the charger on and good as new. Until I don't drive it for a week or so.
SoundWave
I've had a similar problem for the last week or so intermittently but im fairly sure its not the battery. I just get one tick (sometimes not even that) and then if I try and start it again it usually works second time, no problem. On thursday it did take 3 or 4 attemps (turn on, nothing, turn off, repeat) until it started. Could this be a dodgy starter motor?

lockys96
you shouldnt blow a thing mate, dont worry as long as you put the cables on the right terminals, lol
npotts
I had this 'exact' problem on my old NA mate. It turned out that one of the connectors to the battery was loose. Simply tightened the loose connector, and bingo. Might be worth trying the connectors and making sure they are clean and tight, especially if the battery is charged properly... lockys96
take off the battery terminals, and give them a light sanding on the inside, might be a crap connection. add some vasoline
