The same MOT tester has done my car for the last four years, he had to pull some tricks to get it through the first year so after that I always gave him a cat to put in. This year he put it through the new computerised system without the cat or any funny business and it passed no problem. Back on topic, i'd declare everything within reason - internals such as cams etc are unlikely to be detected, but an FCD is easy enough to spot. Decats should come under something like 'full aftermarket exhaust system', I told the cretins at elephant (who I wouldn't touch with someone else's bargepole BTW) that my old one was rusty and I only got the new one because it looked nice.
