toyotasuprauk
Ebay is full of them due to the fact they care more about making money than protecting against fraud. I'm getting sick of it.
i-macca
I'm really not suprised. eBay has such a potential but it's so badly managed it's unreal. Trying to get hold of them to do anything is futile, they just don't give a monkey's once they've taken your money..

As long as you get fully cleared funds first before you ship no matter what date the birthday is on then i dont see a problem. but i would do personal cheque though
toyotasuprauk
It still seems suspect to me, why all the currently in poland bit and why go to the effort of getting a postal order? Whats wrong with paypal, direct bank transfer etc? Did they have any feedback? Be very careful the fraudsters are getting more convincing.
jamesmark
If it is another scam why not put in big bold writing that paypal only!!! and no foriegn bidders unless payment recieved the moment auction ends, people with 10 or less neg feedback will be removed from bidding
i-macca
There's nothing that can go wrong with a postal order is there? So if this person actually sends one then I'm all ok, or is it not that simple??

DannyW
that's a scam, my brother had exactly the same email (albeit with a different name and address) when he sold a mobile phone on fleaday, including the whole birthday present rubbish.
i-macca
Right, thanks guys, wasn't aware of that scam Thought postal orders was safe, so learnt something valuable. Getting totally fed up with this, that's the second time some cock has hit BIN with a scam on that auction. Also had this on the bottom of this one: Relisted due to some scum bag trying to scam me. If you are from outside the UK or have less than 5 feedback then please contact me prior to bidding or pushing that inviting little Buy It Now button. If you are from Nigeria and feel like trying to scam me, kindly don't bother!! So there's not much more apart from accepting paypal only that I can do. Gets on my nerves as even paypal are a bunch of tossers at time, don't really trust them..
RobSoarer2.5TT
Paypal, direct transfer, Cash on collection is the only way. Bankers drafts Postal Orders Cheques Magic Beans Give um all a miss far to many scammers out there and to easy to fix. But be careful with paypal it's very easy to get the item and the money back It's hard to not get scammed when your dealing across the internet, I honestly prefer to deal in Cold Hard Cash

Angarak
I think a cheque can be cancelled 10 days after being put into your account, even though it will show as cleared after 4 days. If your going to accept cheques, postal orders, best bet to check with your bank as to how long it takes for the cash to be yours for keeps - and dont post off your item until the cash is yours for keeps. MrHanky
Damn it, so their using Poland now I have had this happen to me a few times now, dodgy people in Nigeria usually. They go to extreme lengths as well, I had a forged Pay Pal email from one of them saying that I have received payment. I wish Ebay would find out some way to put a stop to these scammers. i-macca
What a load of crap, don't think I'll be selling much on eBay in the future to be honest, just doesn't seem worth the hassle! Don't know how so many people put up with it. Really appreciate all the pointers and helpful comments, thanks guys
toyotasuprauk
Ebay could get rid of loads of these scammers by making you have to register to get an account and provide ID etc like you do a bank account. I can’t believe the current system, open an account rip someone off so you get negative feedback. Open a new account and start again! Also ebay are totally useless when I had the same problem. The winning bidder got a warning ebay didn’t even close his account!
