Poncho

Recommended Posts

hey all, need some good advice again.......:(

i tried taking it off about an hour ago, beings as its the nicest weather ever today!

however, i got all bolts undone except for the front passenger one, it just seems to turn, but wontt actually get loose, so i had to abandon the idea and use the aircon instead.

has anyone had this prob before? im worried if i do manage to get it undone, i wont get it on again

it just seems to turn with the nut, like the nut is not attached to anything....so it wont do up, or un-do. and it half undone, hence the urgency to get it done, because its not really water tight. have smothered it in silicone grease, but not sure it will work.

Not quite a last resort, but you could try this.

Undo all the other bolts.

Get someone to try undoing the dodgy bolt while you pull the passenger front corner of the roof up, (not a jerk, just a constant strong pull against the bolt) it may give the nut enough friction to stop turning just enough to free it.

lol just had to drill mine out also mine had cross threaded and pulled the nut off the bracket inside the actual roof which causes a clicking noise, easiest way is to drill out and then order the new parts around £25 for the new bracket and bolt and spring loaded bolt for toyota dealer which i didnt think was a bad price. To get into it you have to remove the lining and then unbolt the bracket 2 bolts holding it in place by the looks of things
