JimC
hey guys, something i have noticed with my new supe is hot exhaust temps! When im pushing it, it does go over 850 a lot. I wasn't sure if this was about right, or a little hot. How much difference will taking out the bottom CAT make? That is due pretty soon.
Soonto_HAS_soop
950+ is when you should start to become worried. 850 is not a problem.
Soonto_HAS_soop
Bottom CAT out will increase the boost, so it might start gettting a little hotter. Get some basic fuel mods if you are going to be pushing higher boost on stock jap stuff.
Kopite
Where's the EGT probe positioned?
Alex
Where is the probe fitted?? This is v.important when discussing the temps. If it's fitted in the manifold pre turbo then 850 is very safe. If it's post turbo then you're running high as you maybe seeing 1000degC before the turbo.

letmeshowyou
What boost are you running Jim?
JimC
1.1 max
Chris Wilson
That EGT is fine, taking the 2nd cat out will reduce it a bit, even if the boost goes UP to 1.2 bar as a result of the reduced back pressure. 900 C is OK, 950 C is iffy on cast pistons, 1000 C is bye bye pistons time.
