Chris Wilson Posted June 14, 2006 Share Posted June 14, 2006 It's the air con system receiver dryer, it contains hygroscopic granules that pull out and hold any moisture that may have entered the refrigerant. They need replacing if the system is de gassed and is elderly. In practice they are often ignored. A cock up kludge is to dry them out in a warm oven overnight.
