Mike
I usually use the one in Stockton when I visit the folks... not overly impressed with that one.. the machines are a bit flimsy for my liking.. have you got an LA Fitness near you? I think those are best..
penguin
no la fitness .... no jamie- no pool .... but it was my first day there - wasnt too bad - not overcrowded (and i was there during "rush hour" lol) ... the folks seem a lovely bunch - but the staff seemed a bit "twatish" ... they just left us to it once we signed the dotted line... no induction or anything.... i got 5 day free trial - and the "admin" fee is 15 quid - dude wanted 44 quid a month membership but i said i can get atleast 7 people in within a month so he said he can take it to 31 quid a month per person... penguin
I wouldn't pay any more than £30... have you changed gym then? why did you leave the last one? me and my bro use to train at home - well - we had a 7 meter by 6 meter "storage" area outside which was well lit, and had everything .... we ended up buy LOADS of gym equipment, both for resistance and cardio (bike, cross trainer, rowing machine and threadmill) ... thing is, we've moved out now, and our new place is huge, but we dont have any place to use this stuff, so i'm going to have it stored in the garage till i get a new "storage" room built at my new place

how_supra
Yeah I USED to be a member of the gym [sports center] at the top of Handycross [up and until last month] I stopped paying monthly because my house purchase is more important and I can't justify spending £30 on gym membership, so I'm now a casual user [pay as you go] and jog to west wycombe and back [at the weekends] instead. As for the facilities - they were okay - nothing special, and assuming you went at non peak times, you could use all of the equipment without having to wait. It does have everything you would expect, free weights, resistance machines, bikes, treadmills, cross trainer and so on so forth. Its not the worst gym I've been in to be fair. What annoys me, is that you have to pay 30pence to park, which is damn irratating if you don't have any change.

penguin
i train pretty hard, compound exercises - i think i hit a platus few weeks ago - so i cut out all cardio and focused on just strength training - i started gaining a bit of weight now (all good tho lol - and all lean mass ) .... i've been working on getting each "meal" right one at a time - so at the moment, i eat 9am - low fat yogurt 9:15 30g oats + 1 weetabix in about 200ml skimmed milk 11:30 two slices of wholegrain toast and one whole scrambled egg 2pm - 80g (er.. well that what it weighs before i boil it lol- must be more when cooked) of spegetti - 20g greek yogurt, herbs/spices and usually 90g of chickpeas + 3 egg whites 4pm - 2 slices of wholegrain + 1 whole egg scrambled + maybe 1 or 2 pieces of fruit (apple/pear or banana) 6:45pm - protein bar (16 grams protein, 6g fat, er.. think its about 32g carbs - 202kcal all in tho..) 7pm - workout 9pm: 3 egg whites - chickpeas/potatoe/ or oven cooked chicken breast 11pm - low fat yogurt (9g protein, 14g carbs - 91kcal all in) + 1 scoop of creatine 1am - bed i manage to get around 2-3 liters of water in per day - however, i have a "cheat day" ever saturday lol.... i've got a pretty good workout planned, and write down everything i do/intend to do at my next session.... and most importantly - im 99% motivated all the time to stay active what do you think? should i be increasing on protein intake? i did have protein milkshakes - but i stopped takening them - whole food is a better option
penguin
oh and i work out three times a week, always free weights. focusing on diffrent areas at every workout (i.e arms/abs on monday, back/leg work on wednesday, chest/shoulders on friday) but i've joined a proper gym this week, so prob end up using machines etc... Mike
any cardio? My god your diets very 'structured'.. how do you keep up with all that?! sound like you've got it cracked though.. OK mine is; 07:45 Bowl of Wheetos (current fave cereal) with as much milk as I can get. 10:00 Black coffee 13:00 Tuna & Salad sandwich, on granary, no butter and can of diet coke 15:00 Black coffee 19:00 Pasta with Olives & Quorn or Veggie Chili/Curry with brown rice I know I should swap the tuna and the pasta/rice around, but can't really mess on a work and don't ever get an hour.. it's race out, grab sandwich, get back, eat at desk whilst working... I do the gym more like twice a week now.. I found three times made me ill about once a month, I got really run down... and I do 90% cardio.. feel great like... do fancy something else though, getting a bit bored of it to be honest.. penguin
no cardio yet, going to start again next week (usually 4 solid days, 45 min to an hour...) er.... well its taken me a very long time to get the diet on this level ... i found it easier to just work on one meal per week, and see what its like... pretty soon , you tend to have all your times/food sorted.... i get half hour lunch, and i cook my spegetti/pasta lunch at night - eggs/bread in morning (no less then 10 min tops!) ... and the rest as and when lol - having said that ... my cheat day is.......... well pretty bad .. im talking a full curry, kebab BUT i do make up for it by having roast chicken breast - i've kinda stuck to the 20/80 rule i.e 20% workout/80% diet... Geo
Ok Guys here is my Workout and eating plan that i use. 7am, wake and have Creatine and Glutamine(5g), Mutlivitamine, L-sysine, L-Arginine, fish oil Essitial fatty acids. These are taken on an empty stomach. 7.30am, 4 Weetabix, with skimmed Milk. 9am, Mass Gain Drink(600 Calories, 40g Protein, 50g Carbs. 11am, 8 Onces of chicken, with 2 Cups of rice. 1pm, 2 cups of rice, with 8 onces of steak(George Foreman) 3pm, 4 whole eggs, mixed with some milk, scrabbled. 5pm, get home from work, Mass gain drink, same as above, but also taken with 5g of Glutamine. 5.30pm, Work out Hitting a body part per night, Monday is normally chest with Calves. Creatine and Glutamine(5g) straight after work out. 6.30, Head home, and were now looking at 3 cups of rice boiled, 8 ounces of chicken, green beans. 9pm, Baby tatties(Hey im scottish), 8 ounces of chicken. 11pm, Mass Gain drink, with Glutamine(5g) Remember that your Mass gain shake is 600 calories so that is one meal, as you can see i eat 9 times a day, but all in small portions, your stomach digests small portions quicker. You will also see that i only workout about 1hr, i hit the body part im doing heavy and hard, so you shock it into growing. No cardio just a warm up and down, only do cardio if im dieting for a show. Also it takes time, to know what your doing. Even now im still learning.
