mikeyb10supra
just spoke to the garage to book the old girl in for an MOT and told them I would need to hang around as I have no way of getting home, to which they replyed they cannot gaurantee me a time as its all generated randomly on a computer at the MOT place...does this sound right?? only im a bit sceptical about leaving the car as last time it had 6km on the clock [ANGRY][/ANGRY]
RedM
I booked mine in on Saturday and asked to be present and view the tests as they are being carried out. They pencilled me in for 8:30 in two weeks time. No drama.
mikeyb10supra
just called another garage, got a 1.30 timeslot on saturday....hmm thought that was suspect!! £40 as well......thats gone up has'nt it??
garethr
That's a new one. Apparently, once the test is started (entered into the computer system) it must be completed within a certain time window, but my MOT man still books cars in as he always did. Thorin
Nah they can book you in any time, there's nothing "randomly generated". If nothing's wrong with the car my old man would get through a test in about 30 minutes. Now with the new computerised system it allocates 1 hour from logging the car on when you start the test to logging it off again when you finish. If you finish more than a few minutes early, it tell's you off, do this on a regular basis and you get a phone call from the DVLA asking what you're playing at. Understandably he's not best pleased with this new system and has had a few choice words with DVLA officials... like when he got in to work and tried starting a test at 8:55 and the computer told him he wasn't allowed to start work until 9am... VELOCITY
Mot tests have now become completley computerised, the test is timed and all the data goes staright to the ministry. As they are timed every garage can only do a certain amount per day but this does not mean you cannot hang about for it, it is your legal right to view an MOT being carried out on your car
