Guest griff
hi everyone i have searched the forums for ideas on what to look for and it as answered most of my questions. my main concern is h/gasket failure what i've read so far it seems to be mostly turbo'd cars that suffer, but do the n/a also have major probs with the head gasket. are the auto boxes/diffs in the n/a strong units or is there issues i should look out for. i am going to view a supra on tues (in durham 300miles one way) and i'd really like to go armed with some knowledge so i don't end up buying a lemon. any other advice you can give would be much appreciated tia
Dave
hi m8 welcome to the n/a owners club . ive had mine for 18months and never had any probs with gearbox or engine the auto box is supposed to be good for 1000bhp [toyota quote] its stronger than the manual .head gasket never heard of one blowing. there great cars although the n/a is a little underpowered compared to the tt .and theres not a great deal you can do to up the bhp. bromy
It was only the 7M (mk3) engines that suffered from head gasket failure
Pete
It was only the 7M (mk3) engines that suffered from head gasket failure I've not heard of BHG on a mkiv (unless it's been tuned). I'm sure it happens, but it's not a 'common failure' point like it was on the Mk3s.

I thought it was quite a rare occurence.

Ta Lewis Griff, buying off someone on the forum is a sure-fire winner! Lewis is a top bloke, a moderator on here, so he certainly wont be selling any TAT! The only downside to the car is that it is the wrong colour! We all know what the best colour is.......

The only downside to the car is that it is the wrong colour! We all know what the best colour is....... That we do, BLACK, the micron thickness of black paint is approx 2nm/psi/lbsft/*insert any measurement here* thinner than all other colours which means less drag, less weight and more speed. It's a fact! trust me! lol Honestly griff, even if you are not interested in my motor, getting one from the forum is a MUCH better way to go, you can search for any previous problems, speak to people after you have bought the car etc. Hell, bring it back round after a couple of months and I'll even wax it for you Hows that for service lol

In all honesty, my car is worth a lot more, I have lowered it to sell it quick, you genuinely get what you pay for mate. Good luck finding what you want, if I can help at all then I will
