supraman.chris Posted May 31, 2006 Share Posted May 31, 2006 Just spotted some pics of other Supras and noticed their drilled and grooved brake discs point in an anticlockwise direction whilst mine point in a more rotary clockwise direction on car and because i've binned the paperwork i just wanted to know the reasons behind this and whether or not i need to change my set up? When I last looked the latest thing was little J shaped things all over the discs. But yeah I thought the same thing after seeing someone with the same brake kit as mine but with the grooves going in the opposite direction. It's the turning vanes inside the disc that define which way around they go. It should act like an air pump when the wheel is going forward (ie pumping air outwards) Take a look at the AP site, I'm sure there are diagrams of how it should go which will explain it better than I can. Front outer surface 100% Front inner surface 50% Rear outer surface 25% Rear inner surface 25% What a difference they made changing them anyway, i donated the old ones to the local discus throwing team! If you mean did I swap my discs around, then no they were the right way, it was just my grooves curving in the opposite direction. Sounds like it was definitely time for you to get some new anchors! With braking surfaces like that i would have maybe been better off with an anchor! Heeps of before and after pics of all the mods i've made will be on route once i get her back from the bodyshop.
