E-Manage Update?

I've been speaking to Cliff, he's not near getting everything installed yet but he's been in contact with Pete Betts and apparently mapping hybrids with it is a 3 hour job due to not having done one before. I've got my mitts on one now and looking at the instructions and all the other info I've found about it, it seems logical enough. I reckon Pete could map a SP67 setup in six hours or less with the E-Manage.

Still looking around at single turbo options as an excercise, I asked Kean at Boostlogic some stuff about his turbo kit but didn't get a reply - not very confidence inspiring :(

Ian, Kean is pretty busy, and at one stage would only deal through me. Send me the mail & I will resend the questions, or I could probably answer some of them.

I would love to know your feelings on the e-manage.

I think it looks great, it's anodised blue :)

No, really, the big discussion we had a while back over E-Manage vs blank aftermarket ECU has saved me a couple of thousand pounds at least, and I was dead set on the aftermarket ECU as "doing it properly" at the start of it. Researching the E-Manage has shown me that the control of fuelling and ignition timing is perfectly do-able and you still use the stock ECU for idle-up and cold start etc., which saves a large amount of mapping time (£) to get it not as good as stock... The usual problems with airflow fudgers are ignition timing and lack of range on the stock boost sensor. The E-Manage can control the ignition timing either direction and has it's own boost sensor to allow adjustment over the stock limits of boost. And it's got a good resolution, 16*16 maps.

It's complex but seems user friendly. I'm quite excited about using it, shame I haven't got an application for it yet :)

Doesn't our map sensor read only upto 18psi? How can you adjust fuel and ignition at 1.6 bar without getting a map that can read higher? Does that mean the E-MANAGE has its own Map? No idea how to go about this?

I am seriously considering the AEM with Map of 3 bar for my single upgrade only dreading tuning it!! Maybe Paul can help.....

Randy I haven't seen the sensor so I don't know the placement, but the inlet manifold would seem a good source...

Mohd, who I have a lot of time for, seems be be having good success with it.

i had it mounted on the bulkhead.....but it was connected to the E01 boost controller then to E-manage.It uses another map page once to go past the stock sensor. You can map boost ignition timing for example....coupled with EGT and wideband O2 its a great introduction to this black art without high cost .

Mohd is the top dude in the US for E-manage.....and runs the forum.

No Wez, but I need some fine tuning done after Christmas, I must call him

I assume you mean on the Autronic ( a few do it now). It works well, but you still need a decent mapper for the nasty bits. It is also very difficult to hold the car on the loads sites whilst on the road, so a rolling road or chassia dyno would be a big advantage.

I have never tried the automapping on the AEM, some people like it others hate it, I personally would prefer it to be mapped properly by somone with experience.

I have also heard of the auto mapping leaving some nasty holes in the maps so you still need it fine tuning anyway.

The only reason this is needed with the AEM is because the AEM runs the ignition in waisted spark instead of direct fire which is the stock setup, therefore your coils are getting half the charge time.

AEM also make there own CDI ignition but do not think anyone on this side of the pond is running it yet.

Not sure about the autronic.
