Animal
I'm sharing a flat with a mate and have offered to let him use my pc if he needs it. Now, it's running XP Pro SP2 with 3 hard drives, the root just has Windows & programs, D has all my work, personal stuff & music on it & E has downloads and temp video files for burning to DVD. I've set my mate up with a limited account from the user CP; is there any way I can block him from accessing my second hard drive? I did try setting the folder properties to hidden, but that caused issues with AutoCAD not being able to find configuration files. Any suggestions, IT people? Also, if I have download software running & switch users, will the downloads continue while the other user is logged on? Cheers Animal
Thorin
Convert the drive partition to NTFS (if it isn't already) then assign user permissions to it at the top level. However he could still boot from a linux CD or something and get access to the files that way. If he's that technically savvy and you really don't want him accessing it then you can enable encryption on that volume too. And yeah downloads should still continue.
