Belt Tensioner

Recommended Posts

Could anyone help on how to get the tensioner arm back because the arm has gone out as far as it can go. I'm having problems trying to get it back and would appreciate any help anyone could give me cos I've not yet started to pull it apart.

I don't want to risk breaking anything.

I am sure I have the correct layout but would like to double check.

It 'just' pushes back...... but BOY, does it take some PUSHING ! ! :p

It's just an internal spring of some sort (?) and happily pushes back

to allow the belt on. BUT, you have to 'crowbar' it backwards

(obviously without bending/ruining, so on the 'solid' bit of the arm)

I think the tensioner DAMPENER (the Gas ROD thingie) causes

most of the resistance when you're trying to force it back.

BUT, you can't really take THAT off - too much hassle to put THAT

back on then ?!?

(best ONE person 'prises' arm away, and OTHER puts the belt

round the pulley ?)

Thank you soooooooooo much for that!! I should have all I need now (hopefully!!!) Getting the new rad tomorrow. Crank shaft pully sorted so tomorrow is the big day!!! Will keep you posted. Out of interest - I have ordered a manual from JZNZ which will hopefully arrive soon but is the whole manual on a website relating to Jap spec Supe auto TT (L reg 93)? Like I said all my docs are in Japanese so until I get a grip of the lingo I'm a bit stuck - mind you with all you guys it seems I shouldn't need a manual at all :)
