dyno with intake cam on an N/A

mos

Recommended Posts

Before i went away i managed to get a dyno run with the intake cam i fitted on my N/A. The results were 10hp in the mid range increase and a gradual drop in the gain untill it matched the 206 (at wheels) before the cam fitting. I have a few things yet to be played around with (exhaust etc) before i can give a confident increase amount but i will keep you posted (even it it takes a while). I did have a snag with kangarooing but this has been sorted with a new throttle position sensor and i am getting a stalling problem at the moment but the fuel pp is whining severely and i have a replacement on order and believe this is what is causing it (or idle vv). Once this is sorted as i say i will let you know and if i manage to get a re-grind of the exhaust cam.

As ever, I am dead keen to hear your results, as I see this as the next step for my car.

Was the throttle sensor just knackered or was it an issue with the new camshaft?

I know I was hassling you for costs so I apologise if that offended you

The car ran fine after fitting the cam untill i left it sitting for 3 months then it just wasnt right. It wasnt due to the cam, i just think its the age of the sensor. The timescale is unfortunately dragged out by the lack of time i now have to do the things i want with the car.

Rob, no hassle at all and no offence, its a simple enough request for costs of something and at some point i will try and find the receipt. The reason before was i was due to leave and getting on the computer was a bit of a problem that upset the wife (quality time and all that)(although how watching eastenders and bloody coronation street counts god only knows). I have to be carefull and only post costs when shes not around as she likes the children to be clothed and fed for some reason. I can only give cost of parts as i do the fitting myself.

As a complete hijack moment, this bit of your sig Rob:

"Of course, not everything from Sweden is so pleasant. A Sunday afternoon spent in a branch of IKEA, for example, has been scientifically proven to be slightly less pleasant than having a park bench welded to your eyelids and then being thrown into the sea. "

I myself have sent that to someone, it's a cracking quote :)

Rob still cant find the receipt but cost was about 270 i think, got the cam from Nathan at TDI. I have found a U.K. company who are willing to build and grind my exhaust cam to my profile so should get that done in the new year and ill let you know the outcome/cost of the build and grind and the final gains (if any).

P.S fixed my snag its an update in another thread.
