Just an update for you guys as we are heading towards the end of the season. As always a few pointers:

Blackburn, Bolton and Newcastle are all still in the chase for places in next season's UEFA Cup competition.

Blackburn lead the chase in 6th position with 54 points, the same points total as Newcastle but with a game in hand. Blackburn play away at Charlton and at home to Chelsea, who will be crowned Champions this weekend with just 1 more point. Blackburn's form has slipped over their last 2 Gameweeks, but with no game in Gameweek 36, the players should be rested and raring to go. Robbie Savage, Morten Gamst Pedersen and Steven Reid seem to be reliable starters, with Savage the most in-form of the trio, thanks to an assist against Portsmouth and his first goal of the season against former club Birmingham. Up front Craig Bellamy is the main goal threat, with 13 League goals this season.

Bolton sit in 8th place in the league behind Blackburn and Newcastle on 52 points, but unlike Newcastle, they also have 2 fixtures in Gameweek 37: Away at Tottenham and at home to Middlesbrough. Bolton have been rotating their squad lately, with key midfielders Kevin Nolan and Stelios Giannakopoulos both out of the starting line-up last weekend. Nolan came on for 11 minutes, but Stelios did not play, so whether they play in both games this Gameweek is open to speculation. One player who has been a constant is striker Kevin Davies, who proved his worth to the team with a brace of goals in the team's 4-1 victory over Charlton in Gameweek 36.

Arsenal have reached the Champions League final and will play Barcelona in Paris in May. Arsenal, who currently sit in 5th place in the Premier League, either have to win the Champions League in May or finish 4th in the League to be entered in next season's Champions League competition. If they finish 5th and don't beat Barcelona, they will enter the UEFA Cup, so they still need a strong finish. Their 2 Gameweek 37 fixtures are both away, against Sunderland and Manchester City, who picked up their first win in 7 matches in Gameweek 36. Arsenal saw Sol Campbell and Gael Clichy return to first team action against Villareal, and with Phillipe Senderos out injured, Campbell should keep his place.

Middlesbrough's Cup campaigns this season have meant a backlog in their fixture list, and they are scheduled to play a record 3 fixtures in Gameweek 37: Everton at home, then away at Manchester United and Bolton. Managers may be tempted to sign a Middlesbrough player for the week, but bear in mind that Steve McClaren may rotate his squad, so not all players will play in every game. However, with goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer out injured, one player almost guaranteed to play all 3 games is 'keeper Brad Jones. Jones has only played 7 League games this season, but as long as he stays injury-free against Steaua Bucharest in the UEFA Cup, he will be their starting 'keeper.

Other teams playing twice in Gameweek 37 are Chelsea, Fulham, Manchester City, Manchester United and Sunderland.

Very close up the top of the league with Tobys team still leading the pack since very early in the tournament. Can paul pull off two great weeks to catch. Steve, James, Qaisar, myself, John, Robert and Tom trail behind battleing for those important european spots (hey im making it up as i go along ;)) as they are all tightly clumped, this weeks results could sort the men from the boys.

Dean Barton is bringing up the rear nicely and seems to be collecting injired players! Maybe Dean is playing players he fancies, but with some of his selections i dont think (read as hope) that is the case. Jurgan, Ian and Dave are the remainder of the teams fighting to stay in the fantastic mkivsupra.net league as religation looms.
